1)  Do I need to have an altar at home to practice?  No.  From a Buddhist perspective, the most important altar one can have in is one's own heart, with Amituofo (Amitabha Buddha) at the center of it.  From here we can leave offerings of loving-kindness, compassion, truthfulness, wisdom, and forbearance, of which we will then be able to tap into and offer them to all sentient beings.  In this manner, no matter where one is, even if naked, one has an altar to Amituofo
